Pet Sponsorship Program Explained

Did you know if you take your personal pet to any animal control facility you are taking your dog to a Kill Shelter?
"Owner Turn Ins" or O.T.I.s are not given a 3 day hold since no one will be looking for them as they are not lost, rather turned in by their owner.  The local animal control shelters are KILL SHELTERS. and are there to hold strays only, who if not claimed, adopted, or rescued are euthanized.

OTI’s are not given that opportunity UNLESS there is available space which is seldom the case.

NABS met this need by implementing a Sponsorship Program to expand our rescue efforts in 2011. – We offer an alternative to their last resort, the local kill shelter.

NABS provide a safe, no-kill alternative to surrendering a dog by:
  • PERMANENT intake: Taking in the surrendered pet or the stray until they are adopted by a loving family for a new chance at a great life.
ANY MONEY donated by the past owners/family members is GREATLY NEEDED to assist the dog’s care until they can be adopted  - or if too old, allowed to stay here and live out its life in peace.
  • TEMPORARY intake*: If the family is in a temporary crisis, they can bring their dog here as a temporary foster until their dilemma is over and they can safely get their beloved pet back.

*Note: If you apply for TEMPORARY assistance, your pet or rescue’s info will be submitted to our Board of Directors for consideration and possible approval.  A tour of The Sanctuary is possible by appointment only. ( If you have questions or would like to discuss sponsoring further, please contact Pam here. She will reply as soon as possible.)  By receiving  assistance through N.A.B.S. Pet Sponsorship Program you are able to do what is best for both your family and your beloved companion.

All donations are a source of provision for each and every rescue residing at The Sanctuary and therefore tax deductible.

Fund-Raising:
Many times the good people finding a stray can raise some money with neighbors or other family members – this helps us with the dogs’ upkeep – food, medicines, general care. Those wanting to help can easily donate to the dog’s care by they can donate on our Paypal account Online stipulating in behalf of your dog (stating his name).

NOTE: We're updating our Senior Dog page - if you'd like to "sponsor a Scruffy" (Senior Dog), please note "Scruffy" in the description line of the PayPal donation box - or on the memo line of your much appreciated check. Thank you!

Please help us with this much needed program - Does your job involve too much travel? Your condo has a “no pets” policy?  We need good people like you to help sponsor a pen where we can foster strays or surrenders until a loving forever family is found.

You can donate to this much needed program as often as you’d like – of course, we’d love to have you donate monthly - $20 from you and perhaps your book club or co-workers would be a great help.

Please check our  Become a Pet Sponsor page.
We have the space to foster these pets – but not the money. We need YOUR help.
We can save more lives if we work together.
