Bonded Pairs

As we all know, dogs are pack animals by nature. While there are some dogs that enjoy being the king of the castle--especially if their humans are able to spend a great deal of time with them. Many dogs however, especially dogs of people who work outside the home, or younger dogs that love to play greatly enjoy a compatible canine friend. Many times we rescue from the shelter bonded pairs of dogs that have either been abandoned together or brought to the shelter together. These dogs many times have spent their whole lives together, with not enough attention from their humans--and only each other for comfort and love. When we rescue dogs from this circumstance we feel it is our responsibility to them, to do everything in our power to find them a loving, forever home where they can stay together.

Other times, we bring two dogs together in rescue where they are fostered together or live together in a kennel at the Sanctuary. We see deep bonds form with some of these pairs as well--they are both going through a difficult and unsure time in their lives , and turn to each other and become very close. We know that sometimes people are only looking to add one dog to their family, but we hope, by learning about our bonded pairs and hearing their stories, that you will find it in your heart to open your homes to one of these bonded pairs. The love they have for each other will make your heart light up each time you see them sleeping together, playing together, and generally just loving each other completely.

It serves as a reminder to us each day as we work with our rescues, the wonder of true unconditional love. These dogs only have the life that we give them, and we feel as animal rescuers--we owe it to these pairs to work to find them a loving forever home together.

Buddy and Sadie.....Came together as Pen Pals at the Sanctuary. Have formed a deep and loving bond and get along perfectly.

Daphne and Huey.....These two were at the one of the county shelters. Daphne is the mother and she tried to protect Huey at the shelter. We rescued these two together—Huey follows his mom around non-stop. They even sleep in the same large crate together.

Sofia and Pancho....Sofia and Pancho lived their whole life together in a backyard . When the family moved, they left them in the yard. These two are very loving and absolutely inseparable and we feel must stay together after all they have been through.

Tobe and Tina.....These one year old lab mixes are litter mates. They were adopted by a family as pups and when they moved they could not take them with them. They have been together since the day they were born and truly love each other.  Though not listed on the Petfinder website yet, these dogs are available for adoption.
