PAM CUNDIFF'S FATHER, BENNIE HOCKERSMITH
Bennie Hockersmith passed away at his daughter's home 1.5 hours before his 89th birthday. He had adopted Dutchess from N.A.B.S. as a senior dog about 6 years ago. She always waited for him and hunted for him when he was in the hospital or gone on trips. But when he passed, Bennie's daughter brought Dutchess in to say goodbye to her master. She understood and although she grieved for him, she didn't search. She just KNEW.
The last 3 1/2 years of his life Bennie lived next door to his daughter, Pam Cundiff, who is on the N.A.B.S.' Board of Directors, Dutchess moved in next door after he died. "She is a joy to us and just knowing Daddy loved her so much makes us feel connected to him through her. She was his angel in fur. Thank you, N.A.B.S. for providing Dutchess to Daddy for him to enjoy in his senior years. She followed him every step he made."
